The Monster Inside

A monster lives
A monster resides
he takes over; rules
his kingdom inside

An infectious mountain
A cancerous fiend 
He infests every corner
and every crack in between

Making each day hard,
difficult to handle
taking away the sun
and blowing out each candle 

Monster of a cave
Troll under a bridge 
Master of the house
driving to the ledge

Consuming every bite
drinking every drop
crushing bones, squeezing life
making it to slop

The Monsters name
everyone knows
it has its highs
and its definite lows

Self Esteem
has many a swing 
it flies in directions
and takes on a sting.
